Using BRUTAL Optimizer offline: what works without internet

BRUTAL Optimizer does almost all of its work locally on your PC. After you have activated once, you can use the app on a machine with no internet connection. This page lays out exactly which features need a connection and which keep working offline.

How your license behaves offline

After your first activation, the app stores your last-known license locally. When the license server can't be reached, that cached license keeps Pro features working through an offline grace window — you'll see the Offline badge state instead of Pro. When you reconnect, the app re-verifies and switches back to the normal Pro badge automatically.

What needs internet

These features have to reach a server, so they won't work offline:

• First activation — your very first activation (free or Pro) contacts the license server. Do this once while online; see activate your license.
• License re-verification — periodic re-checks, and switching out of the Offline state.
• Update checks — checking for a new app version.
• The network lab — Ping Test, Route Analyzer / DNS, and the Bufferbloat test all measure live network paths, so they need a connection by definition.
• Driver and app-update queries — scanning for available driver or installed-app updates queries online sources.

What works fully offline

Everything that acts on your own PC keeps working with no connection:

• All optimization modules — apply and Undo any module on the Optimize page.
• Guardian — the in-app background optimizer runs entirely locally (Pro).
• Benchmarks — before/after performance snapshots.
• Disk and drive tools — Disk Cleaner, Disk Analyzer, and Drive Health.
• The privacy, startup, and process tools — Privacy Center, Startup Manager, and Process Rules.
