Does Smart Route actually lower my ping?

Honestly: sometimes. A relay can only beat your internet provider’s default path when that path is genuinely congested or badly routed. It cannot beat the speed of light, so when your route is already efficient there’s nothing to gain — and Smart Route will tell you that instead of pretending.

Every session, Smart Route measures your direct ping and the ping through the nearest relay, side by side, and only reroutes when the relay is genuinely faster (or materially steadier on jitter and packet loss). If it isn’t, it stays direct.

When a relay tends to help

• Your ISP peers poorly or takes a congested path to a distant server (for example, a badly routed India→Singapore path to a game server).
• Peak-hour congestion on the default path.
• Cross-border routes where a better-peered relay sits closer to the game server.

When it won’t help (and stays direct)

• Your route is already direct and well-peered — e.g. BGMI on the Mumbai server is usually already ~20–50 ms.
• The bottleneck is your local Wi-Fi or last-mile connection, which no relay can fix.
• The game server has no relay near it yet.
